Minna

I am a very skilled primary school teacher with 26 years of classroom teaching experience. I hold a psychology degree and completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), specialising in English, at St Martin's College. I have taught across all primary year groups from reception to year 6 and have many years of tutoring experience. I consider myself very kind; my teaching style reflects this. Creating a nurturing learning environment because 'every child matters'.

Teaching Experience

I have dedicated over 20 years to primary education. I currently teach at a primary school in the London Borough of Redbridge and have a thorough knowledge of the National Curriculum across all core and foundation subjects.

In addition to my classroom teaching, I have significant experience delivering maths and English intervention and booster sessions for year 5 and year 6 pupils. This has helped raise both attainment and to prepare children for their SATs. I am an accomplished teacher of phonics and phonics screening preparation, particularly in the early years and Key Stage 1. I have a wealth of insight supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and understand the importance of adapting teaching approaches.

Alongside my school teaching, I have worked as a private tutor for several years which also includes supporting home learners. I regularly set homework using 'concrete', 'pictorial' and 'abstract' resources. I feel that if a child needs help, the primary school years are the best time to begin developing the right foundations.

One of the aspects of teaching I am most proud of, is the positive difference I have made to many children’s educational journeys over the years. I remain most grateful for my career in education...

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is centred around creating a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to succeed. I believe that all children learn differently, so I adapt my teaching methods to suit each child’s abilities and learning style.

I aim to make lessons engaging, interactive and enjoyable. I place great importance on developing strong relationships with both pupils and parents. Good communication and teamwork between home and school are essential in helping children make the best possible progress. I also understand the pressures of family life and always try to be flexible, approachable and supportive.

Above all, I teach with kindness, patience, encouragement and always strive to make a meaningful and lasting difference in every child’s learning journey...

Minna has been fantastic with my daughter. She is patient and kind, encouraging her on without being pushy. She has helped us as a family learn more about phonics and how to progress. She makes learning fun. I’ve watched my daughter become more confident in her reading since Minna has been tutoring her. I can’t recommend her enough.

Minna shared the terrible news about her losing all her First Tutor reviews due to their lack of professionalism and not letting tutors know that they were closing down! We would highly recommend Minna if you are after a class teacher who knows the curriculum and its needs inside out! Our son has come along in leaps and bounds and has grown in the confidence that he really needed. Thank you Minna for all your continued hard work! Good luck with the new platform...

Minna has been excellent in trying to understand my son who is neuro divergent. Taking her time to get to know his likes and has made really effort in trying to understand what he is studying at school and how best to approach a home working environment to get the best or of him. Would recommend!
