I have recently completed my A-levels. I achieved 2 A*s in maths and economics, with 287/300 in my maths exam, as well as an A in psychology. Furthermore, I managed to achieve a grade 9 in both maths and further maths at GCSE. As I have recently been through the exams myself, I am well-equipped to help tutor students at both GCSE and A-level. In September, I am studying economics at Durham university.

I have been tutoring for about 2 years now, working with younger students who are going into their GCSE years. I have worked with year 9s who are hoping to achieve 9s as well as year 11s hoping to achieve 6s.

I like to start with a completely free consultation, where I can gauge what level the student is at, what grades they are aiming to achieve and which topics they struggle on. Every student is different so my approach will differ accordingly. If a student struggles with a specific topic or has a particular topic test coming up, we will start by reviewing those topics. For maths, I like to give the student a more tricky question and see where they get stuck. I will then work through it and show the best method and any shortcuts that they can use to complete these types of questions more quickly in the future. For those students aiming to achieve top grades, I like to start by giving them an exam paper to complete and seeing which questions they either can't complete or don't complete in the most effective ways. For economics, I like to go through an essay plan on the topic they struggle with and their notes and look to fill any gaps or add to them to make sure they are at an A* standard. I have also got many extra high level theories that can really add to the students work and show a high level of understanding, helping them to achieve the higher grades
