I'm an experienced A Level History teacher based in Sheffield. I've also been a private history tutor since I finished my History degree back in 2012, with a long track record of helping my tutees achieve strong A level results.

I have led the History A level programme at a sixth form college in Sheffield since 2017, preparing students for AQA History A level. I have achieved the best progress for my students of any teacher in my school in this time. In this time I have also worked as an examiner for AQA on several occasions. I teach the 1C Tudors and 2N Russia 1917-1953 courses, but have experience of teaching and tutoring a wide range of other AQA courses including: Nazi Germany, American Dream, French Revolution, Modern Britain - I can also pick up other topics quickly, as an experienced History teacher with a degree in the subject.

The most useful thing to do in A level history tutoring sessions is to plan and write answers to exam questions. This gives tutees a chance to think about and develop their exam technique, and then to secure those developments so that they are able to reproduce them under exam pressure. So sessions with me will involve a lot of planning and discussing answers to essay questions, and responses to sources and extracts. There is then the chance to write timed responses to these - this could be a whole answer, or just a paragraph - that I can then give you feedback on. We can do this during sessions, or we can set these as homework tasks, whatever you prefer.
