I highly recommend Viv! Viv tutored my son for his English language and English literature GCSE exams. We selected Viv because of her knowledge of the specific texts my son was studying. Each session is based around what my son wanted to focus on and Viv taught him how to structure his answers for maximum marks. She provides revision notes and past papers to accompany each session and provides feedback on any work we sent to her. She asks questions to ensure understanding and has the ability to steer thoughts so that the student comes to the conclusion. My son went into his exams with much more confidence and we are looking forward to his results.

Viv is the most amazing tutor. English was not my daughter’s favourite subject, but she now enjoys poetry, has much more confidence with English all round, and enjoys her sessions with Viv very much. Each face-to-face lesson is a quiet hour away from everything else going on, where Viv listens, gives feedback on my daughter’s work, and offers amazing tips on how to improve. Viv has been tutoring our son on the lead up to exams. An excellent tutor!! Vivienne saw our twin boys relatively few times (and also intermittently due to Covid lockdowns). During those sessions she took them to a standard where they both passed GCSE assessments in English Language and Literature at Grade 5, having been given predicted grades of 3 by their school. Both boys appreciated the clear way Vivienne explained concepts and subject matter that hadn't been thoroughly dealt with in their school lessons and made it all easier to understand. A truly kind and knowledgable lady with a natural ability to interact with, and get the best out of the GCSE age group. We genuinely could not recommend Vivienne enough.

As a parent, I couldn’t recommend Vivienne highly enough. When When Vivienne met my son, Joshua, she found him in a place of anxiety and worry. After a pandemic lockdown, lost class lessons and a severe lack of confidence, my son started at grade 2 with Vivienne. A student without a natural flair of English and personal communication difficulties due to anxieties, Vivienne excelled in her approach and lifted Joshua’s fear to a place where he felt relaxed and competent. Within 5 months, Viv worked on many issues with Josh in a kind, gentle and supportive manner. With a lot of effort and strong encouragement from Viv, Josh is sitting with an expected grade 5. This may not seem high to many, but what Viv managed in a short time with such emotional and motivational issues, was nothing short of tremendous and we, as a family, will forever be thankful for giving Joshua his confidence back and the belief that if we had of sought help and tuition sooner, his achievements could have been on a higher level again. As a parent Viv kept me involved, communicated clearly and didn’t gloss over realities. It was a pleasure to work with her in supporting Joshua and she is fundamentally responsible for the smile he had on his face after both his English Language and Literature exams.

Viv's help with GCSE English has been invaluable! In just weeks she managed to help my son progress from a predicted fail to a level 6 in his mocks. Unfortunately due to the cancellation of GCSE's because of the pandemic, we will never know what could have been achieved by the time he sat his exams but having seen the week on week progress he has made, I am certain it would have been even higher. Viv has a very calm, thoughtful and encouraging teaching style and despite not wanting a tutor originally, after the first lesson my son said he felt he had really learnt a lot and was very keen to return… which is praise indeed from a 15 year old! As any parent of a dyslexic child knows, the school system can be a soul-destroying experience for both parent and child. Although not a dyslexia specialist Viv was happy to adapt her teaching methods as needed and her patient and calm approach were exactly what my Yr11 son needed in order for him to make huge improvements and gain confidence in his abilities. In September 2017 Viv Kindly agreed to Tutor Harry for an hour every week until his exams this year in June 2018. I found Viv to be empathetic, knowledgeable and completely trustworthy.
