Hi, I'm Bev, an experienced English tutor with over a decade of experience supporting children, young people and adults to build confidence and achieve their academic goals. I hold a BA in English, a Postgraduate Certificate in Research and I'm currently completing a Master's in Psychology at the University of Exeter.

I've taught English in both the UK and China, giving me experience with learners from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. Whether you're preparing for GCSEs or A Levels, learning English as an additional language, or simply looking to build confidence, I tailor every lesson to your individual needs.

I believe every student is capable of making progress with the right support. My aim is to make learning enjoyable, supportive and practical, helping students develop not only their academic skills, but also the confidence to tackle new challenges independently.

For over a decade, I've supported children and young people in educational settings, from volunteering in primary schools and developing a university mentoring programme to teaching English in China, working as an Academic Mentor in a UK secondary school and providing one-to-one tuition for students of different ages and abilities.

Alongside teaching, I have extensive experience working with young people through mentoring and safeguarding roles. This has helped me develop a patient, adaptable approach that enables students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while building their confidence.

Working with learners across different ages, cultures and educational settings has taught me that confidence is often the key to academic success.

I have experience supporting secondary school students, adult learners and those learning English as a foreign language.

Every student learns differently, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. During our first lesson, we'll identify your strengths, areas for development and your goals before creating a learning plan that's tailored to you. I have experience supporting students studying AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications, as well as learners preparing for IELTS and TOEFL examinations.

My lessons are engaging, well-structured and supportive. I focus on helping students develop a genuine understanding rather than simply memorising content, while also developing effective revision techniques, exam skills and confidence.
