Tutor Profile

Daniel

Private Piano and Clarinet Tutor in Leamington Spa

am a professional, self-employed musician and dedicated music educator based in the Warwickshire area. Music has been the driving force of my life, both as a performer and a teacher. When I’m not performing live in jazz and pop ensembles, I am channeling that real-world industry experience into my teaching studio. I love working with students of all ages to help them discover their own musical voice, build confidence, and unlock the joy of making music.

Teaching Experience

I have extensive experience working as a multi-instrumentalist and private music tutor, with a primary specialization in the saxophone. My background includes:

All Ages & Skill Levels: Teaching a diverse roster of students, from absolute beginners picking up an instrument for the first time to advanced players refining their technique.

Exam & Classical Progression: Successfully guiding students through formal music grades and theory frameworks with a structured, step-by-step approach.

Contemporary & Jazz Styling: Helping students master jazz improvisation, pop phrasing, and the practical performance skills needed to play confidently in ensembles or solo settings.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching philosophy is entirely student-centric, collaborative, and tailored to individual goals. I believe that learning an instrument should be both rewarding and highly engaging. My approach focuses on:

Tailored Lesson Plans: Every student learns differently. I adapt my pace, tone, and material to match each student’s unique learning style, musical interests, and aspirations.

Balancing Structure and Creativity: While I place a strong emphasis on core technical fundamentals, tone production, and music theory, I always ensure lessons leave plenty of room for creative expression and playing the music you actually love.

A Supportive Environment: I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and progressing at a pace that keeps them inspired."

Dan is an excellent teacher and lovely person. He is very patient with our 7 year old daughter and has taught her a lot already, in only 3 lessons. He is very reliable and we are also grateful that he will come to our house to teach. Thank you Dan!

We have just started with Daniel who has been very patient, encouraging and effective at teaching my son in a way which seems to suit him. He has been flexible to help him develop a piece he was already trying to learn before starting lessons but bringing in other theory at a suitable level also. My son has really enjoyed the lessons and I would certainly recommend Daniel to others.
