I am a patient and highly experienced secondary mathematics tutor with over 35 years of successful teaching in schools. Throughout my career, I have taught across the full secondary age range and supported students of all abilities, from those needing confidence-building and consolidation to high achievers aiming for top grades.

Teaching Experience
I have taught in a wide variety schools in the UK and overseas, so as well as KS3, GCSE and A level experience, I have also taught international courses including Edexcel and CIE IGCSE. I have been Head of Mathematics in two schools in the UK; one a state grammar school and the other a small independent school. Alongside classroom teaching, I work as an examiner and team leader for Edexcel, OCR and AQA. This gives me in‑depth knowledge of exam specifications, mark schemes, and what examiners are really looking for. This allows me to help students develop effective exam technique, avoid common pitfalls, and maximise marks.
Tutoring Approach
I pride myself on my calm, supportive approach and my ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly, in simple ways and step by step. My tutoring focuses on building confidence, understanding, and independence, helping students approach mathematics with clarity and assurance. For online tutoring I prefer to use Bitpaper which is an online interactive whiteboard with video and audio. I find this platform user friendly and effective, particularly when we are focussing on past paper questions.
