Hi I'm Gemma, I graduated from the University of Leeds with a first class BSc honors degree in Mathematics. I have industry knowledge from working in the finance sector for 3 years before going into my teacher training in 2021 where I gained a PGCE and QTS in teaching Maths from Turton Schools Direct in conjunction with Liverpool John Moores University. I recently left mainstream education to pursue a career in outdoor education, so I have a wealth of up to date curriculum knowledge.

I have 3 years of teaching experience in the classroom and have taught students with a wide range needs, including those with SEND, e.g ADHD, Autism, selective mutism. I have taught KS3 and KS4 students at a variety of different levels, specifically including GCSE foundation (OCR) and higher (edexcel) syllabuses. Whatever your level is I will adapt to suit your needs.

My approach to tutoring is student centred. Whether your child needs to focus on securing the basics for their level or is pushing themselves to achieve the top grades for thier GCSEs, I will support them in achieving their goals. I will work to build their confidence in the subject and foster an environment where students feel safe making mistakes and asking for help, something that is not always possible for students in a large classroom.
