Tutor Profile

Aurora

Private Chemistry and Physics Tutor in Cambridge

My name is Aurora and I come from Canada. I graduated last year from Trent University with a Bachelor's of Science Honours degree in Physics as well as a minor in Mathematics and Economics. I love all of these subjects dearly and would be more than happy to privately teach any of them.

Teaching Experience

Although I have not yet held a formal teaching or tutoring position, I have developed strong communication and instructional skills through a variety of experiences. In customer-facing roles, I have regularly explained products and services in a clear, approachable way, adapting my explanations to suit different individuals and ensuring they understood the information.

In addition, I have taken an active role in group projects, where I often helped my peers understand course material by breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more manageable ideas. These experiences have strengthened my patience, communication, and ability to support others in their learning.

I am enthusiastic about helping students build confidence in their abilities and believe that creating a supportive, encouraging learning environment is key to success. I am eager to apply these skills as a tutor and continue developing my teaching experience while helping students achieve their academic goals.

Tutoring Approach

I am quite flexible in my lesson styles, however I prefer to focus on a question-based approach in one of two ways, depending on the needs of the student.

The first approach asks that students come into the lesson with questions or concepts that have confused them in class so I am able to help alleviate that confusion and walk through the concepts in more detail.

Alternatively, if the student works better with a more planned out approach, I am happy to spend a bit of time coming up with a lesson at the student's level that is very detailed and comprehensive that I can present to them and leave time for questions at the end.

I take a student-first approach to education, moving away from directly telling students information and expecting them to understand it. Instead, the bulk of my lessons focus on guiding the student to think critically about their work, and take ownership of their own understanding of the content.
