Tutor Profile

Lucy

Private Cello and Painting Tutor in Worcester

I teach the Cello alongside, working as a self-employed Stone Carver and Artist. I have been teaching the Cello since 2009. During this time I have taught all ages and abilities in Schools and privately. I come from a very musical background, both of my parents are Professional Classical Musicians, and music has and always will be very important to me, I have been playing the Cello since I was 4 and surrounded by music, cellos and other string instruments my whole life. To keep my playing up, I have played weekly in Rutland Ensemble and Rutland Cello Ensemble since 1997. I am based in Worcestershire.

I teach from home. I believe myself to be very conscientious, patient and personable in my teaching approach. Lessons are tailored to the Pupil's needs and desired outcomes. Some of my current pupils work towards exams and some of my pupils are playing for pleasure and personal achievement. If a pupil does want to work towards an Exam, I have contacts with an examination centre and an excellent accompanying pianist.

I have had many pupils over the years who have achieved excellent results. In addition to teaching, I carry out Cello repairs, anything from minor repairs, re-stringing and setups to full restorations. Instrument Hire, Sales and Repair are all available directly from me. Instrument Hire is £90 for 4 months.

Teaching Experience

I have taught all ages and abilities privately since 2009. I teach Cello Workshops from my home, members are my current pupils. I arrange the music to suit the ability of my pupils, so all abilities and ages are welcome to these. This is an informal group, taught from home that is designed to build the confidence of the pupil and help to develop technique, whilst learning in a fun and relaxed atmosphere amongst other Cellists.

Catmose College I taught the cello part-time at this college in 2012. Copthill Independent Day School I have taught the cello part-time at this primary school. I have also taught a group recorder class and an after school storytelling class which included puppet making. 2009- 2011. Southfield Community Primary School I have taught the cello part-time at this primary school. 2011 Oakham C. of E. Primary School I have taught the cello part-time at this primary school. 2011 Assistant Teacher in Beginners cello programme In 2006-2008 I worked as an assistant teacher in a beginners cello programme for primary aged children in Rutland.

Lucy is an excellent and inspiring tutor. I very much enjoy and benefit from our weekly online lessons and have made good progress as a beginner Cello player. Lucy is friendly, with a professional approach and a huge amount of knowledge about music and the instrument itself. The teaching is appropriately paced for me and Lucy is a very patient teacher, supporting and correcting any mistakes with practical advice. I would not hesitate to recommend Lucy to anyone wishing to learn an instrument.
