Rosie

I am a fully qualified and experienced teacher, having worked in both the state and private systems for many years. I am a sympathetic and caring tutor who always strives to do her best for her students and to build their own confidence in their abilities. I always tailor the lessons to meet the needs of the individual and use a variety of teaching approaches to do this. When I am not teaching I enjoy writing children's stories, walking, swimming and line dancing to keep fit!

Teaching Experience

I have been teaching for over 35 years and have taught infant, primary secondary and adult learners, both in the UK and overseas. I specialise in helping dyslexics and have had extra training in this. I have worked as a Director of Studies and senior teacher and mentored less experienced colleagues. I have successfully tutored children for SATS (improvement of over 20 marks to meeting expected standard), and GCSE Language and Literature (improvement from 3/4 to 6).

Tutoring Approach

I find teaching immensely rewarding, as I love meeting new people and finding out how I can help them achieve their aims. I always offer an initial assessment so that I can devise a personalised plan to help them achieve their aims as quickly as possible. I am equally at home providing fun lessons to create interest in the subject and preparing students for exams. I find tuition very rewarding as I enjoy seeing the student make progress and enjoying the subject more at school. I am a patient, approachable and enthusiastic tutor, with a genuine interest in helping students achieve their full potential.

My sons tuition with Rosemary has been a great success. He is year 11, studying for his GCSE. After the first session he achieved top marks in his class for a written assignment and it was read out to the class. It gave him a real confidence boost. I would highly recommend Rosemary.

Tutor response

I am absolutely delighted to hear that!

Rosemary is helping my daughter with GCSE English. The lessons are structured and well planned in advance, material/ exercises provided ahead of the lesson. My daughter is now engaged and taking more interest in the subject. I would highly recommended Rosemary, she has a wealth of experience and a fantastic teacher.

Rosemary has only met my son 3 times but seems to totally understand him. He comes out of his lessons confident and happy. We are more confident about SATS exams and secondary school.

So far, my daughter has really been enjoying her lessons with Rosemary and looks forward to going each week. It's still a little early to tell if it's helping school.

Rosemary is a good, personable teacher and made a friendly connection with my son straightaway.

I am particularly delighted with the way i which Rosemary has built up a great rapport with my eight year old son. He is happy to go for his lesson and i feel that his confidence is improving after just three sessions. I would not hesitate to recommend her . Ruth Snelson

Rosemary is always very prompt and reliable and my son always looks forward to his sessions. He never complains and is always engaged when learning with Rosemary. She has targeted my sons passion for football and is using material/books about football to capture his imagination.

First Tutors

From the first email conversation I have found Rosemary very approachable and efficient she seems to off already built a rapport and understood my sons strengths and weakness in just two weeks. In my 9 year olds words "she is a very nice friendly woman and teaches me easier ways to learn that help me to remember and makes it fun"
