Private Maths and History Tutor in Ilford

Hi! I'm a recent Law graduate from the London School of Economics (LSE) and incoming Bar Course student (barrister training) with a strong academic background across both STEM and humanities subjects. I have an infectious love of learning and am passionate about helping others grow in confidence with their studies. With firsthand experience succeeding in education I will be a supportive, patient and proactive tutor who can help you reach your academic goals.

My A-level qualifications are A* (English Literature), A* (Sociology), A (History). My GCSE grades are A* (English Language), A* (English Literature), A* (Religious Studies), A* (Sociology), A* (Maths), A* (Triple Science), A* (History).

I am also currently aiming to publish legal articles in academic journals and have an avid interest in European Union and Competition Law. Additionally, I am fascinated by Art History and make regular visits to the V&A, often to make use of the National Art Library.

Teaching Experience

I have been tutoring for the last 2 years and have taken on students across both GCSE and A-level Sociology, History and English Literature.

I have also always taken up academic leadership roles where possible, a prefect throughout years 9-11 and director of events within the LSE Law Society.

My own experience with studying will mostly guide my teaching approach. Understanding how to succeed in education from a first person perspective will allow my students to get a unique and guaranteed insight into how to effectively progress with their study.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach is student-centred, supportive, and focused on building both confidence and strong exam technique. I start by understanding each student’s strengths, areas for development, and preferred learning style, then tailor lessons to meet their individual needs.

I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and use active learning techniques- including practice questions, discussion, and worked examples- to ensure understanding, not just memorisation. Alongside content teaching, I emphasise effective study methods, exam-style practice, and how to approach questions strategically.

I believe in creating a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and motivated to progress. My goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and fully prepared for their exams, while developing skills that last beyond the classroom.
